A New Design For FWebDe.com!

I admit that the old theme for FWebDe.com didn't look that good. It was quite rushed, and I didn't really take my time to plan it out and design it. Now, I've been working on a new WordPress theme a little bit at a time, during my spare time.

If you're new to FWebDe.com, here is a screenshot of the old design.

Old FWebDe.com design

As you can see, this is a huge improvement. This theme is still not 100% complete yet; there are still a few finishing touches for me to add. I think it's close enough to completion, though, to apply it to the live site. Be sure to let me know if there are any problems with it!

This theme uses some new CSS3 techniques, such as RGBA and border-radius to add transparency to backgrounds, and rounded corners.

I haven't done much testing in Internet Explorer, but so far it seems that the only major problem is that the backgrounds of the main containers are invisible, though the text is still readable, so it shouldn't be a huge problem. Anyway, according to Google Analytics, only one user has visited this site using Internet Explorer in the last 30 days.

I also created a new logo for this site. I thought of it because the 'Fast Forward' button on my DVD player is labeled 'FWD', which stands for Fantastic Web Design. I didn't really like the look of the normal Fast Forward symbol, so I used a modified guillemet that looked close enough.

There is still some more work to do, so you may be seeing some small changes to the theme over the next few weeks.

So, please leave a comment to let me know what you think of the new design!

Looks good! It's a very nice theme.

Talk about coincidence, I threw a new theme on my blog the same day :)

Looks very clean, well done! Also nice to see someone using the new CSS3 tricks. Looking forward to see how it evolves.

@Karl Agius: It's great that you like it!

I just hope that there aren't too many people suddenly using IE to visit this site. The site's actually usable, but there is just no background for the main containers. Somehow, it actually looks better in IE6 than in IE8!

Sorry, but I thought the older theme was better. On this, its crowded to one side for my liking. But if you like it, who am I to complain.

@Sat Chen: What part do you think is too crowded? I think the sidebar might be a little bit cluttered, but this theme is still a work in progress, and I will continue to work on it a bit at a time whenever I have time to.

Why it isn`t centered? :) maybe you should think about it :)

@Kabarovsky: I just prefer the left-aligned layout. I think that it helps to better show the CSS3 transparency with the background image.
