Some Interesting Resources To Get Started Learning Ruby

Ruby is a programming language that is quickly gaining popularity as a language for development of applications. The Ruby on Rails framework helps to expand the capabilities of Ruby into web application development.

For now, I'm just learning to use Ruby to make some simple scripts. Later on, I will be going deeper into Ruby, such as with Rails to start using Ruby for web application development.

For now, here are a few interesting resources to help you to get to know Ruby a bit better.

A couple of these resources focus mainly on Rails, but they are still very helpful for getting used to the language.

At some point, I will try writing my own little tutorial on how to do something using Ruby. For now, though, I am just a beginner with this language.

Hey Eric, can you suggest a good gui to develop in Python/Ruby?
I went through some and looks like pydev looks good and it integrates with eclipse.

@Saviour Caruana: I took a quick look at pydev, and it looks pretty good.

If you don't need a super advanced IDE, I would recommend using Vim as your text editor. It takes some time to get used to at first, but once you learn to use it, you will be editing files much more quickly. Vim also has some advanced features that can configured to be used like in other IDEs.
