Free WordPress Theme: SnapBlog

I was bored one day, so I just decided to put together a new WordPress theme. After about a week of mostly testing stuff out, I've decided to release it for free.

SnapBlog Home

SnapBlog is a simple and clean WordPress theme, perfect for personal blogs. There is no real reason for the name SnapBlog, but it's the best that I could think of.

This is also my first attempt at creating an options page for a WordPress theme, so there are a few simple settings to customize certain aspects of this theme.

Here is a list of some of the features included in this theme:

  • Widget areas in sidebar and footer
  • Breadcrumb Navigation
  • Customizable introduction text
  • Advertising spaces in Sidebar and after first post

I've been working on yet another design for this site.

I have been working on a new design in secret for the last couple of weeks. Now, I have it almost completed, and am ready to show a live preview. It is at a stage where the design and functionality are just about complete, and it just needs some polishing.

I think the new design has some great improvements over the current one in terms of readability, especially now that code boxes actually match the theme.

There isn't really that much more to say, so you can head on over to the preview!

I've been testing it, and it should work fine in all modern browsers (even in Internet Explorer, sort of). If there are any problems with it, be sure to let me know!

So be sure to check out the preview, and let me know what you think!

Tips to Improve Your Code Readability Today

Sure, you can probably read your own style of coding now. But what if some other unfortunate person has to work with your terrible, unreadable code? What if you have to go back and look over your old code, a year from now?

I'm sure you'd rather get your work done, instead of spending hours digging around through unreadable code, right?

To save time in the future, you should start to write readable code today.

6 Tips for Basic Web Accessibility

Accessibility is a commonly overlooked aspect of web design. To make a website accessible is pretty much to make it usable for as many people as possible. This is often specific to people with disabilities, but can be broadened to include:

  • People without certain features enabled
  • People on slow internet connections
  • People without certain plugins installed
  • And much more.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has a section of their site called the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI). This focuses mainly on accessibility for people with disabilities, and explains accessibility for people with disabilities.

Here are some simple tips to improve your website's accessibility.

Qualities of a Good Website Design

What exactly makes a good design? You may come across some sites whose designs you love, and some you don't. Many of the good designs will have some similar qualities that improve the design, and make it a good design.

Here are a few things to remember when creating a new website design.
